Organic vs synthetic

Currently there is still no organic way to eliminate ticks. We do not use organic tick control because it is simply not as effective. Organic tick control works as a repellent and suppressant. Synthetic insecticides work to eliminate and reduce the tick population on your property.

Ticks quest on leaves and grass blades waiting for a host body to come along. They are tiny and their movement is mainly vertical to look for a host to feed on. When organic tick control, like oils, are applied, they crawl back into their hiding areas within your property. They simply do not crawl out of your yard and property. They hide until the repellent wears off at which time they come back out to quest, looking for a host. Organic only works for 3-5 weeks depending on weather. It needs to be reapplied to suppress the ticks back into hiding. It does not prevent them from finding a host, breeding and laying new eggs. The average tick can lay between 2,000 - 5,000 eggs depending on species. You can have a whole population living and breeding within your property, waiting to come out. Eventually they will come out and you’ll find them.

There are many uncertainties about natural products. There is limited data. They are exempted from testing for toxicity and may be toxic at higher doses. Studies have found most natural products to be ineffective with 0 - 5% control.

Tempo SC Ultra is our product of choice. It is a synthetic pyrethroid derived from the naturally occurring insecticide found in chrysanthemum flowers. With a low toxicity to humans, it is highly effective at controlling insects by shutting down their nervous system.

There are many ways to apply tick control, including backpack mist blowers, applying granular, and hydraulic sprayers. Many companies just cover exposed areas homeowners frequent. We cover and penetrate all areas within your property where ticks can be. Our unique equipment allows us to provide the best results you can get for tick control. Our spray units are equipped with high pressure pumps that allow us to get penetration into ground leaf litter, shrubs, bushes, and stone walls, a.k.a. “mice hotels”. Equipped with 400 feet of hose, we’re able to reach anywhere on most every property. We cover all necessary areas and vegetation to ensure you get the best results possible. Unlike some companies that spray like pinball machines, we methodically and systematically break down your property with a spray plan to ensure 100% coverage. With our high pressure pumps, we are able to spray up to 70 feet, allowing for greater coverage, especially in wooded areas.
